Falling In Love With Life's Polarities
This blog post is about something that has been on my mind a lot lately, and one that I think pretty much every single human being can relate to - dealing with life’s polarities. This can be rough, especially without the right perspective. One moment we feel totally in the flow, like we are surfing on the top of a wave. Then, in the next moment (as in an hour, a day, a week, a month, a year, or even years later) we feel LOW, like we just fell off our surfboard and are tossing and tumbling underneath the surface. Ouch. (Btw, I don’t surf, but I feel like this metaphor gets my point across. Lol.) You know what I mean?
These, my friends, represent the polarities of life. Sometime life is fucking awesome and amazing and wonderful, and sometimes it is shitty and hard and depressing.
I know for a fact that if it weren’t for these hard times where you feel like you could drown, the good times wouldn’t feel so great. Plus, these hard times have the ability to catapult us into incredibly beautiful stages of self-discovery and growth, because they can become so unbearably uncomfortable that you have no choice but to turn off the Netflix, brush your hair, and take some action to make some serious changes in your life. Now imagine that these hard times didn’t exist and everything was always rainbows and butterflies and unicorns. You’d get comfortable, complacent, and ultimately: bored. These hard times serve to shake things up and to help you grow, grow, grow!
Unfortunately, these hard times can also ruin your life if you don’t step up and take charge, which is why this message is so important, because, trust me, I’ve watched people that I love get sucked under and not come up for a very long time or at all and I don’t want that for you.
We all must learn to appreciate and to fall in LOVE with the polarities of life. We must learn to appreciate both the good and the bad, the light and the dark, the yin and the yang, for what they bring us which is, ultimately, deeper awareness, growth, discovery of deeper parts of yourself, and the ability to CHOOSE love, gratitude, and joy no matter what is happening in your life. I also want you to remember that when we experience perceived failures or rejection in life, it not only will provide you with an important lesson, but while it may seem like a “No”, it is actually a “Yes” in the direction of your higher path.
Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu. Namaste.
